Artists are invited to submit video work around the theme of 'virtual embrace' for display in the RAW Labs – a workshop/café/ art space run by Bow Arts in Newham, East London.
‘Virtual Embrace’ can refer to: mediated social relationships, embodiment and technology, a challenging of dichotomies between actual/ virtual, distance/ proximity, sensor(y) experiences, intimacy, interaction between and through people and technology, an exploration of prosthetics and much, much more.
This list is by no means exhaustive – please feel free to interpret in your own way.
To submit please send email anjali.prasharsavoie@hotmail.fr with the subject line VIRTUAL EMBRACE EXHIBITION. Please include the following details:
- Name
- Artist info (bio/ website/ social media)
- Length of film
- Very brief description and/ or stills from your work
- File format (.mp4/ .mkv/ .avi etc.)
The theme of Virtual Embrace is in conjunction with an experimental life drawing evening on the 28th of September. Artists participating in this project are invited to attend this evening (for free). We also plan to have an exhibition evening some time in the coming months in which we will collect donations and all money will go to participant artists!
With this call out we hope to create an open space for art – a space where anyone can experiment with exhibiting new or old video work. Whether you’re a dabbler, amateur or professional artist, this open call is for you.
