Open memorial hall to honor Nam-june Paik
A memorial hall to remember South Korean visionary video artist Paik Nam-june (1932-2006) is to open in central Seoul, the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) said Tuesday.
The Seoul city government bought a one-story Korean traditional house, called hanok, in Changsin-dong that stands on land where Paik's childhood home used to be for the memorial hall.
The measure is part of its city center revitalization plan to keep the old face of the area intact and make the most out of it.
SeMA, in charge of designing and running the hall, said it plans to run various art programs to remember the artist's work and life in what it called 'the house to remember Paik Nam-june.'
An opening ceremony is slated to take place on Friday.
