American artist Cecelia Chapman’s work crosses documentary and experimental borders, merging video, photography, essay, and design. Her work primarily concerns perception, the power of image and the long range effect on consciousness. She has made over ninety short videos in series, collaborating with other artists she meets online or knows. The 2016-2017 collaboration Drone Drama: Music for the Dead with Berlin based composer Sean Derrick Cooper Marquardt examines the defense contract and technology culture that supports the world’s fifth largest economy, California. She is currently working on Club Paradise investigating vacation culture at the crossroads of capitalism and consciousness with Jeff Crouch, a Texas internet artist. Chapman is from San Francisco and living in Massachusetts, USA.
