Maria Zervos in ISCP Art Residency in New York

Acclaimed Greek visual artist and poet Maria Zervos is set to present new video art and a series of aquarella on paper drawings in the context of her art residency at the prestigious International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York.
Zervos will exhibit her work at her atelier, with free admission, throughout July and August. She will also participate in related events and online activities, with the aim of promoting the understanding of her work and to encourage creative dialogue and the exchange of ideas on art at an international level.
Zervos’ participation in the world-renowned ISCP program is supported by the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation.
The themes of her new work to be showcased will focus on topos and utopia, nature and culture. Her most recent work revolves around an interdisciplinary approach to the moving image and text, documenting migrations, the contemporary movements of peoples and the recent refugee crisis, as she works across the media of video, installations, performance and drawing.
Zervos’ art has been presented in Greece and abroad, from the US to China and across Europe. She has received numerous international scholarships, sponsorships and awards and taught courses at Harvard University and Boston’s Emerson College.
In the lead-up to her ISCP residency, a sample of her work will be showcased in Athens, at the Ileana Tounta Contemporary Art Center, part of the collective exhibition “All Together Now,” between June 25 and July 31.
